I had the incredible privilege of being invited to a preview tour of the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, which sets sail next month. Let me tell you—this ship is absolutely breathtaking! With its deep blues, warm oranges, and rich browns, the Disney Treasure feels both grand and welcoming, like a storybook adventure brought to life. The Grand Hall, in particular, truly earns its name, exuding a sense of wonder and elegance that sets the tone for the entire experience.
An Inspired Beginning: Adventure-Filled Design
Our tour began with a presentation from two of the Disney Imagineers behind the ship’s stunning interiors. They shared that their inspiration came from tales of adventure, including Aladdin, Coco, Moana, and The Lion King. Beyond these beloved stories, they also focused on the idea of family—the heart of every Disney adventure—and how the Disney Treasure will serve as the perfect setting for families to create their own unforgettable memories.
Immersive Dining: A Feast for the Senses
Next, we visited Plaza De Coco, one of the three immersive dining venues aboard the ship. We caught a sneak peek of one of the two engaging dinner shows that will be featured here, blending family, music, and memories into an enchanting dining experience. The creative team behind the venue emphasized their goal of transporting guests into a world of family togetherness, much like the film Coco. The chefs also treated us to a preview of their Mexican-inspired menu, which left me craving the Mexican chocolate tart! Guests will also have the chance to dine at 1923 and Worlds of Marvel, each offering unique menus and all-new storytelling experiences.
Family-Centric Staterooms: Adventure in Every Detail
We then toured various staterooms, and as always, Disney impressed with thoughtful, family-friendly design. From split bathrooms and clever storage solutions to light-blocking curtains for restful nights, the staterooms are as practical as they are beautiful. The decor continues the theme of adventure, with artwork featuring The Lion King, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Encanto, Up, Finding Nemo, and Luca. A standout feature? The stunning Lion King mosaic in the bathroom of the one-bedroom concierge suite—truly a work of art!
Broadway-Caliber Entertainment: The Tale of Moana
In the Walt Disney Theatre, we enjoyed the first act of The Tale of Moana. The production was nothing short of extraordinary, rivaling any Broadway show. The set design, costumes, and performances were all captivating—Grandma Tala’s emotional performance brought tears to my eyes. It’s amazing what Disney can accomplish on a cruise ship stage!
Exclusive Lounges: Immersive Experiences Await
One of my favorite parts of the tour was exploring the Disney Treasure’s exclusive lounges: Scat Cat Lounge, Periscope Pub, Skipper Society, and the Haunted Mansion Parlor. These lounges are more than just places to grab a drink—they’re fully immersive experiences. Each space tells its own story, welcoming families during the day and transforming into adults-only venues in the evening. Whether you’re a fan of adventure or mystery, there’s a lounge that will transport you to another world.
Hidden Magic: Discovering Easter Eggs
Throughout the ship, Disney’s signature attention to detail shines with hidden Easter eggs waiting to be discovered. In the Grand Hall, the chandelier pays homage to Disney Cruise Line’s entire fleet. Six lamps encircle the fixture, each featuring a silhouette of a character statue from one of the Disney ships—like Cinderella for the Wish and Donald Duck for the Dream. Over at Periscope Pub, the hull numbers of all six Disney ships are cleverly hidden in the gauge behind the bar. I can’t wait to explore further on future sailings to uncover even more surprises!
Embarking on New Adventures
As our tour came to an end, we said a quick goodbye to Adventurer Minnie before the ship returned to Port Canaveral. After just four hours aboard, I barely scratched the surface of everything the Disney Treasure offers. With a seven-night itinerary, you’ll have ample time to enjoy all the magic this ship has in store.
The Disney Treasure will embark on its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024, offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
