The Majesty of the Great Northwest, Minutes from Magic Kingdom
Escape from the excitement of the theme parks and step into the rustic beauty of the Pacific Northwest at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Inspired by the grand National Park lodges of the American West, this Deluxe Resort combines towering pine trees, waterfalls, rustic architecture and a breathtaking multi-story lobby to create one of the most immersive resort experiences at Walt Disney World.
Located along the shores of Bay Lake, Wilderness Lodge feels wonderfully secluded, yet Magic Kingdom is just a relaxing boat ride away.
For families who want convenient access to Magic Kingdom but prefer a peaceful retreat at the end of the day, Wilderness Lodge offers the best of both worlds.

The Wilderness Lodge Experience
From the moment you walk through the doors, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge makes an impression.
The centerpiece is its spectacular seven-story lobby, filled with massive timber columns, enormous stone fireplaces, Native American-inspired details and towering totem poles. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out toward the resort grounds and Bay Lake.
Outside, streams originating inside the lobby wind through the resort grounds before eventually cascading toward the pool area.
Disney drew inspiration for Wilderness Lodge from the historic lodges of America’s National Parks, including Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Inn.
The result is a resort that feels remarkably removed from Central Florida. You may be only minutes from Magic Kingdom, but surrounded by pine trees, water and rustic architecture, it feels like you’ve traveled somewhere entirely different.
🛏️ Rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Guest rooms at Wilderness Lodge continue the resort’s rustic Pacific Northwest theme while incorporating modern comforts and subtle Disney touches.
Most standard rooms accommodate up to 4 adults, typically with two queen beds or one king bed, depending on the room category.
Resort View
Resort View rooms may overlook landscaping, rooftop areas or other parts of the resort.
Water View
Water View rooms offer views of the pool, Bay Lake or Copper Creek and can be a nice upgrade for guests who enjoy spending time on their balcony.
Fireworks View
Select rooms offer views toward Magic Kingdom, with the possibility of seeing nighttime fireworks from the resort.
Club Level
Guests looking for an upgraded experience can choose Club Level accommodations with access to the Old Faithful Club.
Club Level guests receive access to a private lounge offering food and refreshments throughout the day, along with personalized guest services.
For guests planning to spend time relaxing at Wilderness Lodge, Club Level can be particularly appealing because the resort itself is such a large part of the vacation experience.
🚤 Transportation
Wilderness Lodge does not have monorail service, but it offers something many guests find even more relaxing—boat transportation to Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom
🚤 Boat – Complimentary water transportation connects Wilderness Lodge with Magic Kingdom.
There’s something especially enjoyable about beginning your Magic Kingdom morning with a boat ride across Bay Lake.
At the end of the night, you can leave the crowds behind and cruise back to the peaceful atmosphere of Wilderness Lodge.
EPCOT
Complimentary Disney bus transportation is available to EPCOT.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios & Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Bus transportation is available to both parks.
Disney Springs
Complimentary bus transportation is available to Disney Springs.
Wilderness Lodge isn’t the most transportation-connected Deluxe Resort, but for guests spending significant time at Magic Kingdom, the boat is a major advantage.
🍽️ Dining at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Dining is another highlight of Wilderness Lodge, with options ranging from a fun character meal to waterfront dining.
Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White
One of the most unique character dining experiences at Walt Disney World can be found right inside Wilderness Lodge.
Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White brings guests into an enchanted forest-inspired setting where they can meet Snow White, Dopey and Grumpy—and even encounter the Evil Queen.
It’s an especially fun choice for families or anyone who loves Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Whispering Canyon Café
Whispering Canyon Café serves hearty, Western-inspired meals in a casual setting just off the main lobby.
The restaurant is known for its all-you-care-to-enjoy skillets and playful atmosphere.
And if your server asks whether you need anything, you may want to think twice before asking for ketchup!
Roaring Fork
The resort’s primary quick-service restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It’s convenient for grabbing something before heading to the parks or enjoying an easy meal during a resort day.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill
One of my favorite features of Wilderness Lodge is Geyser Point Bar & Grill.
Located along the shores of Bay Lake, this open-air restaurant and lounge is a wonderful place to relax with a meal or drink while enjoying the waterfront setting.
Territory Lounge
Located near Artist Point, Territory Lounge offers cocktails, small plates and a cozy atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day in the parks.
🏊 Pools & Recreation
Copper Creek Springs Pool
The resort’s feature pool fits beautifully into the Wilderness Lodge landscape.
Water from the resort’s creek flows toward the Copper Creek Springs Pool, creating the feeling of a natural swimming hole tucked into the wilderness.
The pool area includes:
💦 Zero-entry access
🛝 A 67-foot waterslide built into the rocks
♨️ Hot and cold whirlpool spas
👧 Children’s water-play area
🌲 Beautiful woodland surroundings
The landscaping makes this one of the more atmospheric pool areas at Walt Disney World.
Boulder Ridge Cove Pool
Guests also have access to the quieter Boulder Ridge Cove Pool, located near Boulder Ridge Villas.
This leisure pool offers a more relaxed alternative for guests who don’t need the activity of the feature pool.
🌋 Fire Rock Geyser
Wilderness Lodge even has its own geyser.
Located near Bay Lake, Fire Rock Geyser erupts approximately 120 feet into the air at scheduled times throughout the day.
Inspired by Yellowstone National Park’s Old Faithful, it’s another example of the details Disney incorporated to make Wilderness Lodge feel like one of America’s great National Park resorts.
It’s a fun feature to stop and see while exploring the grounds.
🌲 A Resort Made for Exploring
Wilderness Lodge is a resort where I recommend leaving some time in your schedule to simply explore.
Walk through the lobby and study its incredible details. Follow the creek outside. Find a rocking chair near the fireplace. Walk along Bay Lake. Grab lunch at Geyser Point or spend an afternoon by the pool.
After dark, the atmosphere becomes even more special.
The lights, fireplaces, wooded surroundings and waterfront setting create a peaceful contrast to the activity of the theme parks.
This is one Deluxe Resort where coming back to your hotel doesn’t feel like the end of your Disney day, it feels like another part of it.
🎄 Christmas at Wilderness Lodge
If you’re visiting Walt Disney World during the holiday season, Wilderness Lodge is particularly special.
The already-impressive lobby becomes the setting for a towering Christmas tree, garlands, wreaths and rustic holiday decorations that perfectly complement the lodge atmosphere.
The combination of fireplaces, timber architecture and Christmas decorations makes Wilderness Lodge one of the most popular Walt Disney World resorts to visit during the holidays.
Even guests staying elsewhere often make a special trip to see it.
For a December Walt Disney World vacation, Wilderness Lodge would be near the top of my Deluxe Resort recommendations based on atmosphere alone.
